Brunette to Blonde Transition

Hey ladies,
So I'm really in the mood to change up my look. I've always had long brown curly hair and I've been itching to make the transition to being blonde. A lot of people said I should do it to compliment my tan skin and dark eyes. What's the best way to do it with the least amount of damage?

My hairdresser told me a few years ago to slowly bleach it. She said bleach it once every few weeks. It will turn a brassy orange and then progressively get lighter with each session. If you're hair is a dark brown it would take several weeks to lift the color. And in between bleaching and lifting color (like in those few weeks when you're letting your hair rest) treat it with deep conditioners and use a purple toning shampoo to help with the brassyness. It took my mom 2-3 months to lift her dark brown hair to a silvery blonde color. It takes a long time but its healthier for your hair.

This is excellent advice & I would suggest following it! Couldn't say it any better myself & I've personally done this!

Also make an appointment with your hairdresser to make a color plan. She may have mire suggestions or ways to achieve the color

I replied to the response above, saying that this is how I achieved my results going from thick, dark brown, curly hair to a blonde tone that I'm happy with! It is definitely more than a one-step process & it won't look very good during the orange phase! Even though it took a lot of time & frustration, I'd still do it if I could go back in time. These were the best "before & after" photos that I already had on my phone. The 2nd photo has a filter (from Instagram) on it, so the color is not exact. In the photo, my hair appears darker at the top & then gradually lighter. The true color is the lighter/brighter shade of blonde that is right above my shoulders. It is consistent all over, but I do have to dye my roots every 3 weeks (4 weeks at very most)! :)

Oh yeah, I've also been tanning a lot since these photos & the blonde works much better with my darker skin tone! :)

I have done this twice. I am naturally a brunette. The first time she slowly bleached it and it did not look natural and was extremely damaging. I just recently went blonde again this time with a different hair dresser and started from black hair. The second time was amazing, exactly what I wanted and really didn't damage my hair bad at all. She did all over high lights. It took 3-5ish sessions to achieve the color I wanted, but it was WELL worth it. Below is a before mid and after picture with multiple highlighting sessions! Best of luck!!

Is your hair naturally brown or is there Any color in it? If there's color in it, you can strip it, which will leave you with a rather brassy tone. I would then recommend when going to bed to put on a hair mask or oil treatment and leave it on all night. ( I have also slept with a deep moisturizing conditioner on my hair all night.) and then I would bleach and tone it about 3-4 days later,( depending on the condition of your hair)  followed by another hair treatment.
