Facial scrub?

Question

I have been using st Ives apricot scrub for years and now one day my face decides to break out? I stopped using it when I noticed but it's still there. I used burts and bees deep cleaning today it just made it worse. Ugh!! I just recently started using Bare skin makeup too... Are these the reasons I'm breaking out??

Omg, that scrub broke out my face every time! It's not for everyone and I was in school for esthetics and we talked about this scrub..it's odd that it stopped working for you. But truth be told, that scrub isn't good for your skin anyway. It has ground up apricot seeds and they cut micro cuts into your skin allowing dirt to enter causing you to break out.  I would definitely suggest a scrub with corn cob meal. It breaks down with water and friction, so It's not too harsh on skin. I used dermologica's skin prep scrub and found it was too harsh for my skin because my skin wasn't oily or thick enough so I switched to their daily microfoliant and my skin feels amazing! Although..I'm trying to look for a cheaper alternative. Lol

Apricot scrubs and many other fruit scrubs are actually quite bad for your skin. Yes they somewhat effectively exfoliate, but they are ground up pits that under a microscope look almost like shards of glass. When rubbed on your skin it actually makes tiny cuts allowing bacteria to get in and causes acne and other issues. It's not even good to use it on your body or feet. 
As a licensed esthetician I suggest using Mary Kay Microdermabrasion set. It's a two-step process you use 2-3 times a week after washing your face.

It is a deep pore cleanse so it's not suggested to use everyday but when used properly it not only reduces acneic breakouts from occurring, removes blackheads, minimizes pores, and dramatically improves the overall texture of your skin from looking like the peel of an orange to the peel of a peach.

I always use that scrub before I go to bed, but only when I get break outs. I get them right before my cycle and when I'm really stressed out. It works for me. Everyone's skin is different though. I use the Shea moisture soap everyday though.
