When is "too young" to get married?

Question

I'm of the opinion that committing your life to the one you love isn't something that should be delayed for my convenience. Although I'm only turning 21 in May, I know that my boyfriend and I will be married and that he's the one, but my family and friends suggest I wait till I'm 25. If you've been married young, would you consider it challenging? If you're divorced , did age play a role in that? We've been together a year and a half by the way, and would like to be engaged by next year.

My husband and I got married at 22(me) and 23(him). While we've been married 7 years and have a healthy and awesome marriage I don't particularly advocate young marriages without proper preparation. It's not easy, it's work. No matter how much you desperately love each other, how mature you are now and how long you've been together marriage changes things. For the better! But change is change. You become one, everything blends and two different personalities and ways of doing things collide. I consider myself mature at the time we married but I was still growing and learning myself as he was too. You can either grow together or apart, be aware and always open. 
Marriage does not equal eternal bliss. Things will be stagnant at times and passionate/amazing at others. It is not a fairytale so lay those expectation down and learn acceptance of your spouse for who they are. Encourage the good and share in love the not so good and how it affects you. Communicate! Never stop communicating. Be each other's best friends! Have fun!
Be selfless and desire the others person happiness above your own (this has to be two sided;) )

I was a little nervous to read the post when I saw the title, lol I was thinking it would be from someone barely in highschool or something. But I got married when I was 21 and my hubby was 22 and we've been married for almost 4 years now and are more in love forever. Maturity obviously plays a huge role in the situation though. Because life can come at you hard. We had two blissful years and then in the last two years, my father died unexpectedly from a heart attack and my husband and I had to break into my fathers house and ended up finding him, we had a miscarriage when we first started ttc and it took almost 2 more years to get another bfp (8 week appt. Is tomorrow 😊) and my husbands job unexpectedly started having him travel all the time and he got deployed in the national guard. But we made it through stronger then ever. So I would say that if you both love each other and really believe and are committed to what you will say in your vows. Then you are definitely not too young to get married.

We got married at 21, we were dating for 3 years and were friends in highschool... If I didn't know who he was as a friend I would of waited longer but I'm really happy with how everything has turned out so far.. We've travelled, have our house all set up and now at 24 are expecting our first :-) everyone is at different levels in life just because one person isn't ready doesn't mean you aren't. I got married at 17 and that was a mistake.. but I really advise being with someone for a few years and living with them at least 2 before marriage because that can be the relationship ender

I was 22 and he was 19. We had been together 2 years to the day we got married. We both knew we were he one as soon as we got together! It was the best thing that ever happened to us even tho we were young. However, when people say it is different than dating, they arent kidding! Marriage is really really hard. You have to work every day. As said best by my husband, all the fights get bigger bc you know you have to work it out bc you can't just leave or break up! But as bad as the bad can be, the good is even greater! Just make sure you're ready. And don't get freaked out. When it was time to say "I do", I got so freaked out. I knew he was my one. I had been dying to marry him for over a year but knowing you were actually doing it is pretty crazy! I wish you both all the best!:) And don't forget to have fun! The best part about our marriage is that we are adults that love to act like kids! It doesn't all have to be yucky adult life! Haha.

I got married at 18 and he was 21. It was really hard. We've been through a lot. Got divorced. Then remarried. We've got two beautiful kids. And things are fine now. I wouldn't change anything.

I met my husband right after my 18th birthday, and knew in less than a year that it was forever. We dated for 3 years before getting engaged and spent another 2 1/2 engaged before we got married.

At 23, I was still worried that maybe I was getting married too young for most of our engagement. After several happy years of marriage, we are now TTC #1. I'll be 27 this year. I feel like our timing was perfect. It's only in the last 3 years that I've really understand who I want to be as an adult and how my relationship with my husband is a part of that.

I don't think there's really a "right" age to get married, but it's important that you're set in who you are. For example, it was really important for me to graduate college and purchase my first home before I felt ready to get married. Having done those things about 18 months after graduation, and a year after buying the house, our wedding was perfect.

So, it's not so much about chronological age, as it is what stage of life you're in.

There's no age that defines when you're ready because everybody has their own pace and everybody sees things differently. It's only from society that people say 25 is when it's best to get married but that's because it's assumed you already have your lives in check, matured, and are financially stable to start a life. Everyone can achieve that at any age, but with love, you just know.
