Is it illegal to make a child (12 and under) wear shapewear of any kind?

My mom used to make me wear a shapewear band on my stomach and it's something that has helped fuel my lack of self confidence due to weight and I was curious on whether that could be seen as something she shouldn't have done legally. Is it a sort of abuse?

It won't be considered illegal unless there's other things she has done to abuse you. Sounds like she's very immature and cares way too much about opinions of other people. You're perfect just how you are, so don't let anyone, not even the person that made you, tell you any differently.

Depending on where you're from, that's not all that unusual. Do I think she should have done it? No. But, no, there is nothing illegal about it where I live (US).

If it impaired a child's physical growth or caused medical complications, child abuse might be a possibility, but it doesn't sound like that happened.
