Are you for or against daycare?

For me personally I don't want my kids in daycare. I want to raise my own kids and see all their firsts. That could be because I don't have kids yet I don't know but I'm not completely against it or mothers/fathers who do put their children in daycare. I do however think daycare is way too expensive!

Personally I would love to stay home with my kids when they are small but I get that not everyone wants to do that or has that option so I think good daycares are a necessity and very important.

I want to have one of us stay home because that's really important to a child's development. To be able to have a support/ trust system with my children. I've seen kids grow up with both working parents and its really a struggle with trust between parent and child. I want to build relationships with my kids :) but a lot of people see it a different way. Whatever you see is fit

I unfortunantly was a young single mother and had to utilize daycare so I could work. But daycare is so expensive, I was paying close to 600 a month just for someone to change her diaper. I provided the clothes, the food, the wipes, the diapers. Which I should being the mother. But I think daycare is highly overpriced. I don't mind daycare if I absolutely need it but I was always worried about my daughter. Almost daily she was coming home with bite marks from other kids. I pulled her and fortunanty for the past 5 yrs has had help from family. Daycare is not bad, but any parent who has to have it should ask questions and request background checks on each person who comes into contact with your child.

My LO goes to an in home sitter and I believe it's helped her tremendously. She is a lot more advanced than other kids her age who stay home with their parents.. she is 2 1/2 and I have not missed any of her "firsts" I was lucky enough that she saved them for my eyes!! Today, you need 2 incomes to live a nice comfortable life so, me and my SO both work so we can have the best in life. I think sending her to an in home sitter was the BEST decision ever!

I don't want to send my child(ren) to one & if I had to it would be a stressful process to find a place I'm absolutely comfortable with but it's a necessity for a lot of people whether they like that they have to do it or not.

For us, daycare has been a pretty positive experience. My son has learned so much, and is very well rounded. I wish I could stay home, but it is not an option. His daycare is part of the school district, so I feel safer knowing they have stricter guidelines that they follow. Before that he went to a home daycare, and he was very well taken care of and even still talks about how much he liked going there. He's always so excited to go.

I would love to stay home with my kids, but where I live it is impossible unless my SO were making at least 150k. Luckily my parents provide daycare for us, and they watch a little girl as well who is exactly 1 year older than my son, so he is being socialized with her. I work at a school and intend to send him to preschool here, probably half day to start, at 3 to socialize and learn about the structure and rules of a classroom before he comes to kindergarten and is in total shock!

I've worked in childcare and would not put my child in one. Preschools on the other hand I think are quite important in building social skills before school!

Personally I would never and 
have not sent any of my kids to 
daycare...I have heard stories 
and seen news reports of babies
being mistreated or neglected.
3 years ago a daycare center 
forgot a baby in a van and the
baby died from heat stroke...some
parents have no choice and I
feel bad for that...I think the Govt
needs to take a bigger role with
licensing daycare centers and 
paying daycare workers a better
wage!!
