How do you find the midwifery care you get?

Question

Just curious what other mummys in UK think of the care they get by the midwifery team?

With my eldest I hated it and thought they were crap to be frank and now I'm pregnant with #2 almost 4 years on i get even less appts and less care than with my first.

I know there are hundreds of pregnant women out there who need care but it's not nice when your actually treated like your just another number on the list.

Currently 12w3d so only met my midwife once so far. But she was really nice. So relieved.

Finding there is a long wait for appointment and scans atm though.

The midwife I had with my first was amazing. She was lovely and so friendly. This time I haven't had as many appointments, but I think that's normal when it's a second pregnancy. Also I've never seen the same midwife which I don't like. I'm planning a home birth so it would be nice to get to know who's going to be with me. They've all been nice but it's not very consistent care.

I've had the same midwife every time,  she is lovely, a bit ditsy, but has been more reassuring as the pregnancy has gone ... My booking appointment was full of talks of miscarriage and downs testing ..... Really upset me! Since About 16 weeks the nature of my appointments have been more positive :-)

I was suprised to find they only wanted to see me after 8weeks and didn't even have a confirmation from the doctor ... My appointment is booked for 25th feb.. And I'll be 8w on the 26th feb.. I just find it a bit odd is all the receptionist said that tests are so good these days you don't need to come in?! Ah well never mind what will be will be ... I'm glad I have this app though cos everytime something happens that I don't know about I can at least refer to this :) which had been a great comfort!

I have a preferred midwife who is absolutely brilliant and whom I have seen for most of my appointments, except one. The other midwife I saw was really dreadful. I talked about it with my GP and she was actually appalled and put in a complaint about her! I know it's all down to luck but I am really really hoping I won't get her for the birth.

I've only seen my midwife once.....going for my 16wk appt on weds (a bit late at 16wks). They seem friendly enough on the phone and when I've actually seen her but I don't expect for a second I'll get the same one twice. It's a large area I live in....I rarely manage to see the same doctor or dentist twice-they keep retiring or moving on!

The midwife who did my booking in appointment was lovely. I've been told for the rest of my appointments I'll see just 1, as she was covering her clinic that day. But when I rang them about a bleed I had they just said ring gp bye and put the phone down so that was a bit rude. But otherwise I havnt had any other contact with them x

I had my initial booking appointment cancelled twice and then delayed another few weeks which was really frustrating because I was so anxious to see someone. And I still don't have a named midwife at 12wks. However the ones I have spoken to on the phone have been really friendly..

My midwife is so friendly and lovely i couldnt ask for a better one. I was really worried before my first appointment because my sister had an awful time with hers. She barely saw the same midwife twice and none were that nice. The only thing i worry about is going over and having a sweep... My midwife has some big hands! Lol
