What to expect in the upcoming weeks?

Ive just been reading other posts and some of you know the size of your baby per ultrasound.  Everytime I go to my doctor he just does the Doppler and measures my tummy. Next week will be my 36 week appointment and they said they will check cervix and do some testing. Do I get an ultrasound as well or do they have different ways of determining how big the baby is? Just don't know what to expect at the future doctor appointments... They are changing to weekly as well. I'm going to ask doctor next week but figured I'd ask here to see if there are normal things to expect.

It shouldn't be too much different. They won't do an ultrasound unless there is a reason such as your measurements are way off. Every dr is different with how many times they check your cervix. I think my last one checked every week from 37 on, but this one won't do it until right before my due date. They will weight you, check blood pressure, measure you and that's about it. The last few appointments were really frustrating for me last time, because there was no progress each time. I'm hoping to have more progress this time :-)

I had an ultrasound at like 32 weeks because he said the baby measuring small. They gave me measurements than. But other than that no other ultrasounds. The only way I feel like my doctor can tell how big it might be is my belly measurement which is measuring 2 weeks behind, but he said that was fine. So really I don't think there is a sure fire way of knowing without an ultrasound or when it pops out :)

I just asked my midwife how big she thinks the baby is and she gave me a rough guess by feeling my belly.

In Aus they only do a 36 week scan if they think you're measuring big based on belly size or you have gestational diabetes or a history of big babies- well that's my understanding.
