thank you for your responses ladies!! I'm still a little torn but think I may get one anyway to have him by our side for the first few weeks.

My mom only used the Bassinet for about a month, once baby can start I wiggle and squirm they end up being "too big" for either one. I was planning on getting one but think it's pointless, just going straight to the crib. :)

My mom friends tell me the closer the baby is to you, the happier you will be :) I'm getting a pack and play with a newborn napper attachment for when she's still sleeping in our room. It's going to be as close to the bed as possible! This way she'll be super close and not in the huge crib, but I can and will reuse the pack and play whenever we travel.
