The value of income is different in different areas because of the cost of living. For example, a 4 bedroom house in my Midwest hometown is $300,000-$400,000. Where I live now in California, the same house is $1 million to $2 million. $60,000/year is much harder to live on here than in my hometown. If you're trying to compare yourself to others, try Googling average income in your area.

My husband and I are students and just got married. Together our income right now is $35,000, an honestly we are careful with how we spend and are saving well and gettig by just fine. In fact we are going to Italy for 2 weeks in September. It's tight but we make it work. When he graduates he's set to make $90,000+ straight out of college. I don't even know what we'll do with it all!

My husband is the sole provider and makes less than $30k a year with his new job. Got a major paycut. I'm a SAHW and pregnant. We have mortgage and utility bills but we survive without help. We know how to manage money.

We make over 6 figures combined, but I love in Connecticut and the cost of living is so much higher here. Many down south would say we are "wealthy" but we are just staying above water.
