Insurance coverage?

Did anyones insurance cover some or all of IVF? My specialist said IVF is not covered by my insurance but after some research, I am wondering if some of the meds used may be covered.

I plan to ask my doctor at our next appointment but since that isn't for a few weeks, thought I would ask others what their experience has been. I have endometriosis which my doc believes is the cause of the infertility if that matters. Trying to gather the funds for IVF is a tall order. We aren't trying to cut corners, just save if at all possible since I would rather have our money go towards the baby if possible.

My Pharmacy bill so far is about $2500. Obviously if I end up needing any refills that will go up, but the only thing my insurance helped pay for was for meds that aren't infertility specific. Antibiotics,  xanex, and progesterone and things of that nature.  I got my meds at walgreens who had a couple of programs you can enroll in to help reduce the costs and they also sent us a manufacturer rebate to get some of the money back which we just sent in. It's a bit overwhelming,  but that's been my experience so far.

My insurance did cover some of the medications for my IVF but we still owed $3000 to the pharmacy. None of the other costs for treatment were covered.

I feel very very lucky because my insurance covers 100% of infertility treatments/medication. I have Aetna. I am located in Portland, OR, but my job headquarters is in Massachusetts which I believe requires infertility coverage. I know there are a couple states that are the same way. My insurance will cover 4 rounds of Ivf 100% and all meds are pretty much covered. I think I've spent about $200 on my meds and I started this journey in Sept. You should call the insurance company and ask.  I was in shock  when I heard they covered everything!

I have Blue Cross and it covers up to four cycles of IVF per year, and up to 6 lifetime.  All meds are covered with a max copay of $150.00.  I didn't expect to have fertility coverage at all, I was so happy to learn that I did.  We are in Illinois and I believe they require everyone to offer some kind of infertility coverage.

Our insurance covers $5000 of treatment and we have max copays of $150 for drugs. So we will pay $6000 for IVF and about $400 for drugs. Crazy trying to come up with $6000 because we are also buying a 4 bedroom house next year.

My insurance doesn't cover IVF, but my doctor said that it will cover some of the drugs. Basically because the drugs are sued for several reasons and there isn't a way for the pharmacy filling the prescription to know why you are taking them. Good luck!
