How soon after meeting someone is it 'acceptable' to get married?

I've been with my SO for almost six months now, and we BOTH feel like we're ready to think about getting married. I already wear a promise ring and my boyfriend has recently hinted that he has got me an engagement ring, and we're moving in together in a few months. I'm just a little worried about what my family will think of us getting engaged/married so soon😔

My husband and I started dating & 4.5 months later got married. But we were best friends before so that helps. Make sure you talk about your fears, insecurities & expectations. Counseling can't hurt. Then if you're still sure go ahead!

My parents knew each other from their small town in Mexico, they dated for a week when my mom was 19 n my dad turning 18 and then got married, still going strong even with their ups and downs. My mom just turned 40 so 20 years sounds about right.

I knew my husband for 6 months total before we got married. Married over 3 years now. But we both decided that no matter what happens we would work through everything. We dont believe in divorce. We've been through some serious issues but always came out of them stronger. And yes i was nervous too about what my parents would think. I think thats normal. Also i got married at 19.
