Gender?

I'm pretty steadfast on wanting to wait until our baby arrives to find out if it's a boy or a girl. My husband (and MIL) both think I'm crazy and "how can you possibly plan if you don't know". I think we'll get more useful baby shower gifts and that it'll make delivery even that much more exciting.

We got in a HUGE fight about it last night :( I know we have time cuz we're at 5w- but it seems like it is a big deal....

I'm 6 weeks and actually mentioned waiting to find out to my so just last night. His response was "it's a boy" and that was it... I'll bring it up again in a few more weeks... Best of luck!

It's your baby, your choice! I personally wanted to know but everyone is different. This is one area of life not to do things for other people!

My SO and I decided to wait to find out the gender. I know it's going to be hard to wait but I think it will be worth the wait.

This was an interesting conversation piece for me and SO too. We have decided to find out as was my intention.

Here was my thinking behind it, we're due to get married December 29th this year and baby due around 2nd September, with money being tight already we're going to need specific gifts to help us through this time, and make sure that baby has all it needs. I'm from a really big family and know people will help out by buying really thoughtful items and I don't want my baby to be dressed in white, yellow or brown for months.

I do think you both have to be happy with the decision though, my SO understands now and supports fully, he keeps guessing what we'll be having! We're going to keep our name a secret though, we want some surprise for people! Good luck xxx

Oh yea- my MIL I was able to shoot down easily. That was a chat we had way way before even TTC. I just had no idea it was *that* important to my husband. He swears he "can keep it a secret" but there's no way that he'll be able to keep it from his mom and sister. I just feel like we should both wait...
