Does anyone believe in couples counseling?

I went a few times with my ex-husband... They warned me that it will either make or break the relationship. Obviously, it didn't work out since he's my ex. Just contemplate hard on what the issues in the relationship are, and try to determine whether it's something that can be helped with counseling/therapy. Because to be honest, there are certain things that can't be changed with it, like someone who's overly possessive or controlling (in my case), or they're doing something illegal that you don't want to be a part of (but are too afraid to tell anyone because you're afraid you'll get in trouble as well; also happened to me). And as long as you're okay with being judged by a complete stranger who knows absolutely nothing about you or your life and how you live, then go for it. Otherwise, you're better off trying to fix the issues yourself and saving a ton of money in the process. Good luck to you!!

It's nice to have an impartial person to listen and guide the conversation. Neither party feels like the third person is siding with one or the other. It really pushes communication in the right direction and makes it much easier to work through things without emotions getting in the way as much.

Counsellors won't judge you- they hear things way worse than any situation you can think of all the time so rest assured they won't be judging. Therapy has to be a step you both take though or it won't work- you both have to want it, not force or coerce the other to come along. Biggest help would be if your have a certain faith you identify with and find a counselor that aligns with that faith
