Owen's birth story
I was induced at 39w4d because of gestational diabetes treated with insulin. Went to the hospital and had cervadil inserted and then had to wait for 2 hours before I was sent home with instructions to check in every 4 hours by phone. My husband and I decided to go out for brunch before going home and trying to sleep. I was already very uncomfortable - pain in my hips, lower back and pelvis. Wen I checked in the first time by phone I wasn't sure how much movement I had felt so I was instructed to count at least 6 movements in 2 hours. At 2 hrs I hadn't counted the 6 movements so we went back to the hospital so they could monitor baby and his heart rate was high. Contractions started very close together and the first time they checked me I was at 4 cm and requested an epidural. Baby's hear rate continued to be high and drop during contractions making the OB uncomfortable. Next time she checked I was 9 cm and he still hadn't dropped all the way. OB felt we were out of time because of his heart rate and I had an emergency c section. He is 2 weeks tomorrow and recovery is getting much easier.
