35 days late trying for baby #2

So my husband and I have been trying for another baby for about a year now. Ever since I got off BC my periods have always been a little off. But this one is way longer then normal. I'm just so confused because I took a test day after I was officially late but it was negative and I don't know if I want to take another and get my hopes up again. What would u ladies do????
