Have you gained weight in 1st trimester?

Question

Some ladies on another board seem to be all knowing and say it's wrong to gain any weight in 1st trimester. I've had several doc and past mamas that disagree. Curious to see the poll.

I gained 10lbs bc I was starving all the time and such bad fatigue I couldn't do crap all. Trying not to care too much about it as I go into my second but it's tough to gain that much weight so fast and have not much baby belly to show for it lol. I just feel fatter. None of my jeans fit (better get used to it I guess)

Honestly those things are a rough guideline. Maybe most women don't gain much in the first bc most women are super nauseous and throwing up all the time. Who knows. Trying not to worry about it. We'll lose it all breastfeeding anyhow.

I would be cautious of anyone telling you that it is WRONG to experience what you are experiencing. Lots of judgy moms on the internet who think they know it all. That being said, I did gain 3-4 pounds my first trimester. My nausea was never so bad that I threw up or stopped eating, hence no weight loss for me. Instead I would feel nauseous and lightheaded if I didn't eat regularly. And carbs worked best. Hence the weight gain, I suppose. My doctor didn't have a problem with it, and I am now 17 weeks and have only gained 1 pound in the last 6 weeks. And second trimester is when many experience more significant weight gain. So in the end I think it's balancing out. As long as you try to be healthy and don't use pregnancy as an excuse to only eat horrible foods all the time, I think you are doing just fine.

I lost weight, but just because of the morning sickness. If your doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't either :)

I was hungry (and sometimes hangry, lol) allllll the time. So I gained almost 10 lbs. But it evened out by the second trimester

At first i lost some pounds due to morning sickness but after that subsided a bit i gained like 3 pounds max

The only reason I didn't gain weight was because I had constant nausea and wasn't eating enough. But it doesn't really matter when you gain the weight, your body needs the extra energy. My appetite really increased throughout the end of the second trimester and into my third though!

I gained 10lbs in my first and I've gained another 10 since being in my second, I'm 22+ weeks. My dr says I'm doing fine. Based off my original weight and height I should gain atleast 25-30 lbs so I still have 10 more lbs to go to still be considered "healthy"
