Who did you tell you started your period first?

I got my period at 14. I was getting  in the tub when blood dropped out.....I screamed bloody murder and my mom came in freaking out.

Me: Mooom!!!..I..Im....Imm DYING. My lady part broke and I need stitches  before I become a raisin when my blood falls all out.

Mom: Hunny, (laughs..and keeps laughing while talking) You've started your perios. You remember when we talked about becoming a woman?

Me: ...yes...

Mom: You're growing baby. It's natural, even mommy has her period. 
Me: (cries even harder) I need a band aid mommy. I need to cover my lady part so it will get better.

Mom: Okay, okay.

Needless to say, I was creeped out by my first pad. I wasn't happy at all. I'm happy my mom recorded this. I'm going to show my daughter this.

I didn't know once you got your period you would get for the rest of your life basically. I also didn't know you bled I thought you peed your pants or something?  So I was in the bathroom when I started bleeding I began crying uncontrollably and yelled at my mom to help me and my (truly evil) mother started crying too asking why was I bleeding and we needed to go to the hospital. (It didn't help that I had TERRIBLE cramps)

I honestly thought I was dying..

She went as far as helping me in the car and driving me to the hospital then she started laughing. She plays too much....

I showed my grandpa my bloody underwear b/c I thought I was sick 😂😂😂. I was 11 and NEVER paid attention in family life.

I'm the youngest of 5 girls. I'm a twin and my other sisters were 15, 13, and 12 years older than I was. My older sisters were the ones that told me about my cycle and what to expect. I remember it happening in 6th grade. I told my twin sister (who was jealous for some reason) and told my older sisters who picked me up from school. I didn't tell my mom until I had gotten home from school. I think it's because, coming from an Indian family, I was more comfortable telling my sisters instead of my mom.

I knew, which helped. And realized that the month prior the same super light bleeding had occurred and I brushed it off. I was expecting something more intense (which came years later). I was ten and had started puberty around eight so I was certainly waiting for it - but of course someone is there to validate the experience - that was my mother.

I knew what it was and knew how a tampon worked so I didn't freak out. Took me 4 days to tell my mom. So awkward 😳. I only told her because she'd eventually realize tampons were missing from the box and I didn't want her to approach me about it.
