NT Scan question

Erin • My husband and I conceived via IUI on try number 8:) This will be our first.
What are your thoughts on the having a nuchal translucency scan at 11-13 weeks to check for chromosomal defects? My husband and I conceived through IUI so the fertility clinic brought it up but stated, I'm already in a low risk category since I'm 28. The nurse practitioner said they didn't even used to offer it to women my age but that it's totally up to me.
Thoughts?
I tend to be a worrier. And I've read stories of women getting high risk results back, causing undue worry when there didn't end up being any abnormalities. But then it could also help peace of mind if the results came back low risk. Any moms out there who have had any experience with this scan?
Thanks!
