My twin sister was born with a hole in her heart (as well as two more heart related issues). She had surgery at 4 months old and is now 28 years old and we're both expecting our babies within a week of each other!I can imagine its hard not to worry but just know medicine has come a long way and this is curable now. All the best :)

I was born with a heart murmur 31 years ago.  It never affected me and actually closed up shortly after I was born.  They usually do close up.  It really depends on where the murmur (hole) is and how big it is.  Most of the time, it heals in utero or shortly after birth!

I had open heart surgery (coarctation of the aorta) at 4 months old, 32 years later and at 23 weeks with baby #3, I'm healthy as a horse...dr said baby has VSD, which is very common, it should close up on it's own, I know I should be worried, but I'm not. Having heart problems myself I guess I'm just used to it. Having the #1 cardiologist in Illinois, I'm pretty confident he knows what he's talking about! Praying you get good news and Good luck!

Went to doctors last Friday to find out the gender and found out I was dilated a lil and needed emergency surgery right then and there to get my cervix closed up. Spent the night in the hospital and although the surgery went well and me and baby are doing well (having a girl) I'm now on bed rest for the next 4 1/2 months :(

The doctor told as that hearts finish their development after birth so its hard to see any defects this early. (We were 20 weeks)
