Can you have you period for too long?

I tend to skip around on my period. I'll have two monthes in a row and then not again for three or four monthes. The past couple of times I've had it for between ten and fifteen days. I talked to my Dr. about it but she wasn't very helpful. Is this normal for a 23 year old?

Yes! It is bad, esp if it stayed consistently reg to heavy. This happened to me about the same point/age  in my life. Mine was because I used the NuvaRing for so long my "wall" was too thin to where I bleed non stop for about a month and a half strait. First you want/need to find out why it's happening, and if your doc isn't helpful explaining or even pursuing it, get a second opinion. Once that's established, then yhe doc should know how to address or fix it. My Gyno gave me different hormone pills to build my "wall" and make it stronger. Maybe try some prenatal pills (they have extra hormones and/or vitamins that could help). Also, make sure and be consuming extra iron, since you're bleeding so muh, you don't want to become anemic. Hopefully that helps, but def stay on your doc, or find a new one/second opinion
