What does it man if your bf lied about

Going to dinner with a girl he works with? So I caught him in this lie about going to dinner with a coworker then he confessed and said the only reason he lie in the first place was he knew I'd get mad and they are just friends and I have nothing to worry about? I'm beyond pissed at him and don't know what I should do?

It's the most ridiculous thing ever. When someone says they lied because they knew you'd get mad. No you lied because you're disrespectful and you knew I would get mad then why'd you do it in the first place?

If they're legitimately just friends there would be no reason to lie. And I kind of feel like a private dinner with a coworker is inappropriate anyway.

Shaddy! Sounds to me he might have an emotional connection with this girl? This happened to one of my friends and she just believed her bf when he said they were just friends and they ended up breaking up because he couldn't take the feeling of cheating he kissed his (friend) and been kissing her going out to dinner and bars for over a month! Not saying that's happening to you but watch your back I'd hate to see anyone go threw the pain of getting cheated on!!

In the past, I did the same thing as your bf. I have a lot of male friends and I like to hang out with them. My ex was a jealous, territorial guy and would freak out about just coffee or dinner and I eventually stopped telling him what I was doing because if I'm hanging out with a friend, I don't need to feel like I'm doing something wrong. So I could see where he's coming from.

Just ask him about it. Have you reacted in a way that would make him feel like he has to keep things from you for fear of being yelled at, etc? It's often hard to admit that, but think about it.

It means he wanted to keep it a secret from you probably because he knows you wouldn't have wanted him to go out to lunch with some girl.
I wouldn't right away assume he is cheating. 
But you should let him know you want him to be honest about that kind of stuff, even if you don't agree with it. But express your emotions and tell him why you don't agree with it. 
My boyfriend has gone to lunch with one of his girl friends before and he would tell me about it. I personally don't like it and did tell him I was upset about it. But him and his friend are like brother and sister. I have met her and come to see that. 
Maybe you should ask to meet her! Then you can see how there relationship is and if it's something to worry about.

Maybe you should do like was suggested and ask to meet her. If he gets defensive or makes excuses not to then he's probably lying. If that's the case, you can either tell him good luck and leave him, you can be stupid and put up with it, or you can get even and go to lunch with your "friend" and lie to him, then leave. But regardless you need to let him know how you feel. If she is just a friend, you still need to ask him how he would feel if you did the same then ask him to not take his friend out unless you are there. You have to have respect for yourself and you have to make sure the one you are with respect you. If not they will walk all over you. If he lied to hide it then he's definitely covering something else up. If she's just a friend and there was nothing to worry about then he wouldn't have had any reason to lie. He does not respect you, if he did he would have not lied about going to dinner with another woman nor would he have even attempted knowing you would be upset about it. Luring just made it worse and forced you to be suspicious.
