Should I go to the clinic and take a test?

I'm on the birth control patch and I get my periods a certain time each month. This month I didn't get it and I just continued to put on my next patch. Then I started spotting for a few days but I still haven't gotten my period. I took two pregnancy tests and they were both negative. Is there an explanation for this or should I go to the clinic and take a pregnancy test?
