No nursery, options?

I was wondering if any of you ladies will not be having an official nursery, but will just have the baby in your room? May I ask what items you are using (or buying) that you think is essential? Hubby and I can't afford the stuff that we see in babies r us or magazines. So if anyone can think of crib alternatives or creative diaper changing tables, I'd appreciate it! 😘

When our daughter was born we simply didn't have a separate bedroom for her. It was fine for a while. We had a bassinet in our bedroom and had most of the basics in the rest of the house (swing, bouncy seat etc) I would definitely suggest a boppy pillow though!

My sister has a cot in her husbands study. She wheeled the bassinette out during day into her bedroom, and back in there at night. You don't need a specific room at the start. I had baby in our room for a couple if weeks before transferring out as I'd sleep that little bit more without the grunts and groans which can start an hour before they actually wake! (Any sleep is precious!) I never had a change table, just have a change pad area on our lounge floor with all the stuff- saves space & is safer when they start to move! You don't need to buy a high hair for a while if you can't afford it right now- they take up room too. Start buying nappies at each shop, just to have a good supply. I never became sucked into the nappy bag buzz- nothing a good handbag can't do and so much less bulky. I always keep wipes, 2 nappies & change pad in glovebox as well as a spare onesie. Virtually replicate that in purse, you don't need all the crap done women take, wipe warmers and all that crap. Just blow your warm breath on it if it's cold! I'm pregnant with baby 4 so I think I've got it down pat now.  ☺️ Hope you go ok- babies adjust to your life remember, not you to theirs. 😀 x

I have a small two bedroom apartment. My sister has been using the extra room, which is pretty small, but she was already planning on moving so I could turn it in to an office. I plan on having the baby in my room and using the extra room as an office/nursery. I don't want to buy a lot of stuff, not even a crib yet, maybe just a drawer or shelf for the baby's clothes. I'll try and get a crib from one of my cousins later on (when I'm ready to leave the baby in another room) ;)

Baby is going to stay in our room with a bassinet for the first 2-3 months as we finish renovating the upstairs bedrooms. :)

I've never used a changing table in my life. I find them awkward. We kinda have a nursery but not really. It's just a tiny room that has the crib on one end and the toddler bed on the other. All the baby clothes are on my room and when they are tiny I keep small diaper stash in my room. Most of my "baby" stuff is downstairs. All of that stuff you see in pictures of nurseries isn't absolutely necessary.

I have a nursery but with breastfeeding thought it easier just to have her in our room. She is now 17 months old and still sleeps in our room. We used a bassinet when we first brought her home and then we used the crib but she hates her crib so at 11 months I brought her in our bed. We all sleep so much better together. But now I'm pregnant with #2 so in the spring we will move her to her own room.

You can look for a crib in a consignment shop. They may have a good one for cheap. And you can use the crib once you bring them home. I also just used a changing pad on one of my dressers. If your breastfeeding you'll also want a rocking chair unless you'll just feed on bed but it's difficult with newborns to breastfeed in bed (at least it was for me).

You can use a pac'n play for a crib and put a mat ontop of a dresser for a changing table. You don't need anything fancy

I'm using my sister (niece) hand me down crib and changing table! My parents and grandmother bought and thought I could take it instead of having to buy anything! It fits perfectly into the corner of mine and SO's bedroom.

We're using a pack n play that has the infant sleeping section that can be moved down as they grow and a removable changing table with a diaper holder. We're going to decorate a corner of our room with wall decals for her. We have 3 older boys that are taking up the other two rooms and the oldest is old enough to need his own room and the others are too young to share with a new baby so we're planning on buying/building a 5 bedroom sometime this year.

We are doing a nursery but he won't be in there for his first few months. I got a Graco travel crib instead of a bassinet. I love that it folds up so it can be stored in small spaces when not in use. It has a bassinet insert for newborns-up to 15 lbs, then it turns into a small play yard after that.
