What does it mean When you take a hpt like the frer, it says negative but when you hold it in the light it has 2 lines but the 2nd has no color?

Answer

That second line you are seeing is just the indentation for the dye to go into if it was a positive. That's why they tell you to read them when they are flat on a counter and not up to the light otherwise you see the  indentation and think its a line.

There is also a plastic strip on the back of that test. When you hold it up to the light, you see it's shadow
