Day 3 transfer?

Need some hope here...

Ivf #1:
11 eggs retrieved
9 fertilized
7 kept growing, 2 look good
Today: Have to do a day 3 transfer today with the 2 good ones because doc isn't confident we'll have any left at day 5.

Totally crushed, but I want to stay calm and optimistic for the transfer this afternoon.

Any thoughts or experiences you can share would really help!

Hi Elle, during my first cycle I had 11 eggs of which 6 fertilized. By day 3, there were 2 clear winning embryos with excellent quality. I was a bit upset not getting to day 5 but I was told that plenty of people have success with day 3 transfers and that day 5 transfers only had a slightly higher success rate. In my case, neither took though. My other 4 were not good enough to be frozen. Everyone is different though and anything is possible. Hoping that everything goes right for you!! Don't lose hope. There are so many variables and you just need to hope that it will work until it doesn't. Big hug!!

I also have no ivf experience, yet. We've had 3 failed IUI's and it's horrible. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers during your transfer and the coming weeks! Good luck!

Little update...

Had surgery for endometriosis two weeks ago! Doing another round of IVF in August!

Just to close out this thread for anyone who might be reading it in the future - my day 3 transfer with 2 embies was a bfn. Luckily got 4 frosties from this cycle (frozen on day 5 or 6) so will try again next month.

I had 6 retrieved. 4 fertilized. I had day 3 transfer. They put back all 4 cause 2 had a lot of fragmentation so they weren't making it. I had 1 with right # of cells with done fragmentation and the other had no fragmentation but had advanced into 12 cells. Should be 6-8 day 3. As of right now I am confirmed pregnant. First ivf age 41 (6 failed IUIs prior). They did assisted hatching also. Hopefully I have a sticky bean. 2nd bloodwork beta tmrw. 🙏
