Should I try again

My guy friend broke up with his gf in December. He told me he like me .... We tried to pursue a relationship but when we came back to school( we're in high school) he said he couldn't do it. Now a month later he said maybe we could try again. But I'm scared because I put my heart out and got nothing in return. Now idk if he's worth it.
