Avoiding razor burn in bikini area?

I have realllly sensitive skin. I really don't like to have any hair on my body especially in my bikini area. I shave, but I frequently get razor burn. Red bumps all over & extremely painful. 
Does anyone have tips on how to prevent that. I can't do waxing at this time, but somewhere in the future.

Deodorant swiped down there after keeps mine looking totally clear.

Whatever way the hair is growing, shave the opposite. I personally love waxing but shaving works. And always you'd shaving cream!

Use a shave cream or soap when you shave and a gentle exfoliant between a fresh shave and the next time. The red bumps are either irritation because of too much friction (dull blade + no cream) or the new hair becoming trapped under the skin. The exfoliant will help with the later.

I have the same problem, I still get it a little bit every now and then but it's helped me heaps 😊
