Surprise twin?

Question

Has anyone had a surprise twin?  Like they went into their first ultrasound and saw 1 and then went in later to find out that there are 2?  I'm pretty sure there is only 1 in my belly, but I'm just curious.

My aunt had surprise twins... She delivered the first... Expected the placenta to be next... Shocked the doctor said wait, it's another head!!! Lol But that was 25 years ago... I'm sure ultrasounds and technology has changed a bunch since then! So probably a lot less likely!

I have heard of it happening. Usually only if they do an early ultrasound, and then wait till 20 weeks for the next one. Which is my situation, I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and don't get another ultrasound until week 20, first one was at 6 weeks and hard to see anything. Kinda scared they'll tell me there are two in there lol. But I have no reason to feel that way, I'm just paranoid because of the long wait.

Soon as the ultrasound hit my pelvis it was clear as day, there are two in there. Not sure how you could really hide 1 especially at 12 weeks or less when they are smaller. I'm sure it happens though.

I did not. They could see them very clear at 10 weeks pregnant. I heard stories that it could happen but it is very rare.
