Announcing?

When are y'all planning to announce? I thought we'd wait to 12-13 weeks, but from what I've read once you're 9 weeks and have heard a heart beat, chances of miscarriage drop then stay that low. Now there are variances in the percentage it drops too, anywhere from 2%-.07%...but nonetheless low!

Great points on all fronts, and I'm definitely in the camp of sharing and potentially needing support! Plus the excitement! We are going to take our announcement pic this weekend then make the decision. All our close fam and friends know, this would be for public and work. Even when I think about work, if something were to happen, I'd be ok with folks knowing. Here's to stickiness and health for us all!

I waited till 13 weeks with my first pregnancy then miscarried a week later. I am telling people already because in hindsight, I am so grateful everyone knew what I was going through with my loss. I got so much more love and support than I ever would have had if nobody knew I had miscarried. If it were to happen again, I will need that support. I know sharing is a hugely personal choice, but if you're like me and lean on others in times of pain I encourage sharing. Besides, you have already seen a heartbeat and that greatly lowers your chance as well.

We ended up sharing the news with close family and friends and at my work this week after having our first ultrasound (only 7wks). As mentioned, the doc said of course bad things sometimes happen, but once you see a baby and a good heartbeat your chances of carrying to term are really good. I just figure I'll keep it to inner circle people until 12 weeks and then we can do some public announcement, but at this point anyone who knows would appreciate knowing even if there were complications. It was so fun and such a relief to finally share this gigantic secret!
