How long until you realized you were in labor?

For those who have not been induced, had a c-section, or had their water break first how long did you have contractions before you realized you were actually in labor and they were not Braxton Hicks? I had contractions start and stop several times now but they haven't ever been consistent in length or time so I know it was not the real deal. But how long was it before you were sure it was real?? I'm over my 40 weeks so I know it will be any day now just wondering!

I always had strong Braxton hicks with my first pregnancy so I was never sure until my water broke. I didn't have any actual contractions until about 30m-1hour later.

4am the day she was born. When contractions would not let me sleep any longer. She was born at 11:33pm. Long wonderful day

I had contractions the whole day (plus I lost my mucus plug that morning) I walked the whole day. At 10 o'clock that night I told my mother in-law that the contractions got much more uncomfortable and she asked if I wanted to go to the hospital, I said yes and the. We were off...they told me I was dialated to a 2 and in order for them to keep me I needed to be at a 3. They told me it could take hours  to dilate any further and told me to go home and get some rest. Two hours later I went back because the pain was just unbearable!!! When they checked me I was at a 10 and ready to push! It all went so fast thank God. And I was so glad I was able to get an epidural! 🙌

Straight away. I was 41+2 and was lying in bed and got a sharp pain in tummy and I just knew it was time. They came every 4-5 mins from that first one and two days later I gave birth lol

Well my water broke and contractions although mild, started right before it broke so I knew it was 100% real.

I knew as soon as the first one hit. I had back labor and couldn't miss the excuriating, felt like my back was breaking pain. That was with my first, with my second I knew as soon as they started, I had back labor again and remembered the pain. My labor was much longer (56 hours) and slower the second time, so the pain was the same just not as bad.

You will just know!  I started having contractions with my first child and at first thought they were upset stomach cramps.  Soon after I realized they were coming regularly every few minutes and lasting the same amount of time. I started timing them until they got closer together and I knew my baby would be born that day!

It also took me a long while to realize. My son was born Sunday morning, and I started having cramps Friday night. They weren't regular at all, and I wasn't sure they weren't Braxton-Hicks (even though they felt nothing like BHs I'd thought I had) or just intestinal distress. These crampy pains continued all day Saturday, and I wasn't sure they were contractions until about 10pm that night when I noticed they were definitely coming every 10 minutes or so. Labor was not as obvious as other people had led me to believe it would be, mostly because I had no other signs (no water breaking, no mucus plug, no diarrhea, etc.).

Honestly? I started having cramps in the morning and thought nothing of it since I didn't expect labor to feel like cramping. Didn't realize it was labor until it got much more intense about 11pm...
