Does bone marrow transplant hurt??

I am considering donating my bond marrow and wondered if anyone has had it?? X

It hurts like hell, but it's worth it.  I saved my brothers life, when he was only given 6 months to live.  He's been in remission 14 years now😀😀😀😀

My grandmother had leukemia, she lived an extra ten years after her transplant because a wonderful stranger donated bone marrow to her.   It was ten years in which she saw her first great grand baby (my son) and her grand daughter (me) get married, I think it's wonderful that your even considering it.

Yes it hurts. They cant anesthetize the bone.

I've had several bone marrow biopsies and they hurt bad! So I would imagine it would hurt to donate.

I don't think it does anymore. I registered to be a donor this year, we have a very sick co-worker who needed donors asap so I tested.. but anywho. I was told it's sort of like chemo. You sit there and they have you on some type of IV to get what they need. You feel sick afterwards but it's not the spinal tap... or not always. :/

I'm just trying to remember... A friend of mine a few years back did this for his sister.. I think he said it hurt? But I don't remember very well anymore.
