Baby girl name for passed away relative?

I think that my husband and I have settled on a name for Baby Girl. His aunt Elaine passed away last December and he would
Love to honor her by using her name. I also have a family name I would like to use, Marian. Originally we were going to have both as alternate middle names depending on what we went with for first name but then I thought why not "Elaine Marian"?

I think it's beautiful and it has such cute nicknames (Ellie, Lane, Laney) but the problem is I still picture an old sick lady and not my sweet newborn girl.

How should I work to re-contextualize this name so that it becomes new and unique for our baby?

I love it! I think it's so nice to be able to honor her. I was hoping for a girl so we could honor someone in our families. Go for it! I think the more time you spend thinking of your sweet baby with that name, The better. It might also help to look at old photos when she was young to help see the vibrance before she was an old sick lady.

My daughters middle name is Madalynn after my grandma. We spelt it different since it was spelt Madeline but pronounced Madalynn. My dad loved that I did it after his mom. I also am naming my son Kasen John Runnels. So he'll have two middle names. John is my dads name, both grandpas name and my uncle who was murdereds name. And Runnels is my husbands moms madden name. I think it's important to keep family names alive.

My mom told me it's not a good idea to name my baby after a relative that passed :C. For some people I guess it's more of a smack in the face rather than an honor. I really liked the name I was going to use, but I believe if you have the right intentions that people will understand.
