Have you picked out your pediatrician?

I've been so busy getting stuff ready for my sons arrival that I haven't even started looking for pediatricians. How would I go about starting my search?

I've been looking for practices where I don't have to worry about unvaccinated kids in the waiting room. Glad to say there are a few good options in our area!

We decided to use our family doctors as I've been with them since I was a kid and I love them. If baby Needs specialized care we will find a pediatrician but both my midwife and doula said our choice was good as family docs are well trained especially if they are D.O.'s.

Ask your OB for referrals and also friends. That way you get the good and bad stories first hand. Sometimes you may have to try one or two out until you find a good fit. I always look for ones with designated sick areas and that can see you the same day you call. If your kid has an ear infection, waiting a few days is hell.

I'm 39 weeks & 3 days and we just met with a pediatrician yesterday that works out of the hospital where we are delivering. She had great reviews and 20 years experience! She seemed very nice and we felt comfortable with her. I used google to pick her out of a bunch of doctors!

Talk with your doctor about their recommendations. I also did a Google search and read reviews. You can find a ton of information online. There is usually a discussion about pediatricians in your area on thebump.com
