Back labor?

Hey ladies! FTM here. I keep reading about some women having "back labor" and I was just wondering what that was. Is there any where else you can feel the labor most?

I had back labor with my fourth baby. To me, it wasn't necessarily any more painful than the other three labors - the pain was just concentrated in my lower back rather than up front. I had back pain for a couple weeks before labor started and also in between contractions during labor. She was facing sunny side up - I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Generally when baby's back is against your spine. You preferably want baby's facing your back, not their back to yours. Not saying it's impossible, but the preferred way to birth is their face "down" or face to your back/butt. That way their skull (back of head) isn't pressing against your spine when delivering. Can cause lots of pain in your back otherwise.

I call it butt labor. Because it hurts down by the butt.  Rather than menstrual like cramps. Also the contractions dont show up on the monitor. I had to yell at my nurses to check my dialation bcus for both of my baby births they didnt believe i was in active labor. I havent had regular labor to compare it with but i know back labor is quick but very painful. From my expirience at least.

I had back labor with both my kids. It means that the contractions are in your lower back. It was very painful, but I've never had front labor to compare it to.
