Can animals sense you're pregnant?

Question

I'm wondering if animals know you're pregnant. I haven't taken my test yet but I'm having some symptoms. My cat will not come near me. He smells my hand and runs away. Can you sense that maybe something is changing?

My male cat all of a sudden follows me around and is constantly wanting to lay on my lap of near me. He was never this clingy before. When my sister was pregnant one of their male cats loved to be near her too. Once her belly was big, he would rub his head on it. Then once the baby was born he sat by her guarding the baby.

Yes!  My dog is very clingy and she always knows before I do!  She's a sweetheart with my toddler too.

My doctor told me that they can hear the fetal heartbeat. Makes sense, as their hearing is so acute. So far, my two dogs have kind of ignored my giant belly though.

When I was pregnant with my first, my cat at the time used to follow me everywhere and curl round my belly whenever I sat down or slept. When my boy was born she would then lie and guard the crib!

My female cat,  who is normally very well behaved,  pooped in the living room twice the weekend I found out I was pregnant.  I couldn't decide if she knew I was pregnant or if she was unhappy with my husband's litter box cleaning (it used to be mostly me). She hasn't done it since that weekend and I don't think DH's litter box cleaning had improved that much, so maybe she was expressing her displeasure at the pregnancy.

When I was a few weeks pregnant, my one male cat was obsessed with kneading on my belly. A week later I found out I was pregnant.

Also with my first pregnancy, I had such a tough time getting off the couch, my dog would stand be me and help pull me up.

I think they smell it on us. It's cute.
