Coffee in baby's bottle??!!
Having said that, I do find myself bumping heads quite often with my mother-in-law when it comes to parenting style. I always stand my ground, but when doing so, I sometimes get accused of not allowing my daughter, and soon to be new baby, to partake in 'traditional' aspects of the Hispanic culture.
My question is this: Do any of the Latina mothers here allow coffee to be put in the infant's bottle, along with milk? I think it's absurd. I had this battle with my MIL when my daughter was a baby, and it's come up again since finding out that we out expecting a new baby. She gets so pissed at me over it, and says that I'm breaking tradition, and that it does no harm to the baby. My pediatrician agrees with me on this. Have you ladies ever had a cup of coffee that a Hispanic person makes?! It's STRONG. I love love LOVE it myself, but cannot fathom giving it to a baby, even if just a few teaspoons. I'm trying my best to keep up with 'traditions,' but this is not something I think I can budge on.
Would you allow it a time or two?
