circumcision or no?

I chose not to circumsize my boys because it is medically unnessecary. I didn't want to put my boys through the pain if it was not needed. I have taught both of them the importance of hygiene and care for their foreskin and they have never had an issue. The way I see it, women are prone to infections in their vaginal skin folds and we would never cut off skin just to avoid infection so why do it to a baby boy. I can understand if it's in your religion or if you know there is something wrong with your baby that would impair their ability to keep it clean but otherwise I don't recommend it.

We chose to circumcise our son and the hospital did it the day after he was  born. We saw him again a few hours later and you couldn't even tell that anything was done to him. He was peaceful and never seemed to have any irritation after the procedure. We will be doing the same with our second son due in a few weeks :).

We are not planning on having our son circumcized.  My husband is not, and he has never had a problem with it.  It seems medically unnecessary, and it blows my mind that such an uncommon practice globally is the golden rule here in the US.

Incidentally, we have a family member who works in a very well-reputed hospital's nursery, who was telling us that the rate of error during circumcision is jaw droppingly high.  Doctors do them in a hurry and without much care; sometimes they take off too much or too little, causing problems for the babies later on that may require further surgery.  There are also high rates of infection post-op due to poor care once the babies go home.  She also explained that in our region, lawsuits and complaints for OBGYNs are exponentially higher for circumcision error than any other procedure they perform.  She used to believe that circumcision was just the universal thing to do, but now that she's seen so many go awry she is staunchly against them.

My sons father is not but my son will be. His father has horrible hygiene habits and I'm afraid my son will pick them up no matter how hard I try to teach him better, considering "baby daddy's" mom is a total clean freak and doesn't understand where she went wrong with him. I also don't want my sons future partners to have such a frustrating time with sex like I did with his father. It's just a lot easier and a lot less to worry about. Sure it hurts them but some parents get their  newborn girls ears pierced. They also have methods that aren't as painful and just the cut and slice. My nephew had a plastic ring put around the head and the foreskin just fell off after a few days. He didn't seem bothered by it at all when it was put on or taken off.

Yes i will, first because of religious reasons, second, my dr explained why its important and how it avoids infections, plus its easier done early than him choosing to do it later! It heals faster..
