Baby Shower?

We're still TTC but I figured I'd go ahead and ask. We didn't save anything from our first child because he's now 5. Is it ok to have another shower this time since we have nothing still?

My cousin who had 3 pregnancies had a shower for each. (We're in the Midwest, too.) other people threw them for her. The second one was actually a surprise.

I think it just shows the etiquette is changing. If someone doesn't want to buy you a gift, they won't. If you want a shower and you need stuff, go for it. I think generally people like buying baby stuff.

We celebrate ALLL babies :) Not just one. If people choose to bring gifts, that's up to them. The parties are generally focused on socialization of the families, good food, and sun(both my first one and this one will be in the summer, yay!)

They are fun! We are big on donating and everyone knows that most of our stuff when to a family that was in desperate need. They didn't have a shower for their second and couldn't afford to buy everything at once so they spaced it out. However, mama went into labor at 24 weeks and didn't have anything major for the baby. So we gave her what we had. :)

I'm in the Midwest and we typically do "Sprinkles" instead of a second shower. It's a little smaller and most moms ask for a theme: clothes(if opposite gender of 1), diapers, or accessories (paci, bibs, socks, etc). They are so much fun. These people are your good friends and family. They will understand your need.

I say have one for sure! It's not tacky! Everyone in my area has a shower for each baby!!

I have found this is regional for acceptance. Noone in my area does this, it's found to be really tacky. A baby shower, according to tradition, is not to celebrate the baby but for the mom on helping her become a mother. It's really not anyone's fault if you didn't save anything and you shouldn't have a shower just for gifts. Now everyone says you should celebrate every baby, but that's not what a typical shower is for. Other people get real mad about this but everyone where I'm from is real old school about this.
