When should I tell my son?

So I need some opinions. I have a 3year boy who's turning 4 next month. He's from my pervious marriage me and his dad have been divorced for about 3 years now. when should I tell him that mommy has a baby in her belly and he's goning to be big brother?

My last pregnancy I wanted to wait to tell my son (4) until 12 weeks, which turned out good since I miscarried.

When the due date came and I wanted to celebrate the baby, I told him mommy used to have a baby in her tummy, but it went to heaven and we were going to do something special. By that time it had been so long I could talk about it without crying and not overwhelm him. I could be happy that the baby was in heaven, so he took it really well.

This time I'm waiting til 12 weeks again. I'm 6 right now.

We are telling my step-sons, 6 & 8, this weekend since we are telling all of our close family this weekend as well. I'll be 6 weeks but we just can't wait anymore!

We were going to wait with our last pregnancy until 12wks to tell our 7 year old. He's wanted a sibling for so long. I lost it at a day shy of 12 weeks and just 2 days before we planned to tell him. We ended up telling him the day we lost it because I was too emotional to hide it. He took it well and was sad but supportive too. I think it was better to wait because he would have gotten far too excited and the disappointment would have been greater. I'm now 8w5d and we plan to wait until after 12 weeks and genetic test this time again. As much as I want to share, I think it is better for him.

We told our son about a week ago. I was 8weeks. I'm 9w1d now. He didn't understand and he's 5, he's never asked about having a brother or sister, I believe he has a bit of ADHD, he constantly fidgets and you need to be in his face for him to understand something's and he needs constant reminders, I think once he can feel the baby move he may understand more, but my husband asked him if he was happy to have a baby brother or sister and he said no they'll ruin all my stuff lol. It was kinda funny. He's very much a mummy's boy at times and other times he's a daddy's boy, he only knows being a single child.

I wanted to wait until after 12 weeks but I couldn't!! I told him around 5 weeks. He is super excited but he does tell random strangers and his friends and teachers about it. I recently found out I'm having twins, this part we are going to keep quiet until about 13 weeks until we know they are ok....I guess the other thing to think about is at 3 years old they have a very shaky concept of time....he has NO idea how long 9 months is. Even my son at almost 6 doesn't totally get it. I just told him it takes a long time to grow a baby and that it would come around Halloween.
