It depends. If your with someone who is willing to try anything but also willing to STOP the moment your uncomfortable then it could be alot of fun. You never know what you like sometimes without trying. With my hubby i let him know what I DO NOT accept and the rest is open for experimenting. I went so far as to have the reconstuctive surgery i needed but always refused vause he wanted to try anal. Needless to say even after surgery it was a big fat no go.

I've known I'm submissive for a long time and I've always been pretty open about it with friends and hook-ups, but with my boyfriend, I was actually kinda shy about it. it came up a little after our first date when we were on skype together and asking questions back and forth, and the subject of turn ons and turn offs came up. he was really chill about it and said that he'd never tried anything like it, but then later on mentioned tying someone up with a bedsheet, which I pointed out was basically bondage. later, after a loooooot of tension had built up (like a couple months worth), he told me that he had been thinking about what I'd said and he liked the idea of it a lot. we're still working out exactly what we're both comfortable with, but we're pretty definitely Dom and sub now.

if you're bringing up new ideas, I think it helps a lot if you're having a conversation where you're both comfortable and willing to share and willing to listen. communication is important for any kind of relationship, and it's especially vital in BDSM. never make assumptions about what your partner might be thinking/feeling; even when we're just talking about new things, I try to check in with my boyfriend to make sure he's okay and that he's comfortable with the conversation we're having. I also recommend both of you check out Love Hurts by Catherine Victoria; it's a short little guide on safely navigating kink, it's available for free, and can be quite helpful even if you have some experience already. it's consent-based and it'll give both of you a sort of common groundwork that may help prevent confusion when talking about kink.
