Blighted Ovum?

Question

I had my first ultrasound at 7w2d and all we could see was an empty sac. Has anyone had this happen and everything turn out to be ok? I'm waiting on the doctor to call me with the results of my blood work.

I had one last year, I see from updates yours ended the same as mine. I'm so sorry for your loss. And it is a loss. I tried telling my self it was not a baby.. but someone on an online support group told me something that helped me understand. "A fertilized egg is always a baby. From the moment you peed on that stick and it told you were pregnant you planned, hoped, and (maybe) prayed for that child. You imagined names, faces, events. Now you have to face the future knowing your hopes aren't coming true just yet. You need to grieve your child, because that's what you lost. Not a sac of cells, a child."
When she said that it was like a light went on. I stopped calling my pregnancy "an apple" (that's what it looked like when I passed it) and started calling it a baby. And when I did that I was able to grieve properly. I went off the deep end for a bit (especially when everyone around me got pregnant I believe it was seven pregnancies announced a month after mine was lost). But I came through. And yes now that the anniversary is coming up I'm falling back down that well a little but I'm gonna make it through. And so will you! 
People will say stupid stuff, including your hubby, mine did. But remember you did not have a sac of cells, you had a baby. A dream was lost, it doesn't mean you won't find it again. I know it sounds trait but after every storm there is a rainbow. Have faith and stay strong. And remember there are people out there that do understand even when it feels like you're alone... you're not! Much love.

Yes I experienced a blighted ovum in  October of 2007 with my second pregnancy. My body still thought it was pregnant until almost 10 weeks in the pregnancy. Amniotic sac and no baby I had to have a D&C. Sorry to hear but the good news is that you can pregnant again soon after. I got pregnant 4 months later and delivered a healthy 9lbs 4oz baby boy November of 2008. Best wishes for your next pregnancy.

I had a blighted ovum that finally the doctor called at 9 weeks.  The hardest part of the whole experience was that my body never caught on that there was no baby.  I continued to grow and I looked very pregnant.  My levels were rising and on point, my progesterone was 24.7 so no indication of a bleeding miscarriage.  Everything was perfect except the fetal pole never appeared.  I had a d&c this Wednesday and I physically feel empty inside, but my doctor told me I can try again as soon as I have a normal period.

My advice to you is get a second opinion, maybe from a hospital ultrasound, they are supposed to be stronger.  Also wait it out as long as you can because the baby could want to make a late appearance.  I finally made my decision when my hcg levels  went from 70000 to 66000 back up too 70000.  When the hcg levels fluctuate that means that there is a problem with the pregnancy.

I have had that. I'm so sorry. I still tested very positive for pregnancy after many weeks. I ended up having to have. D&E

I hate to say this but I had a blighted ovum and 8 weeks that ended up needing a d&c. Hope yours turns out different.

I had one last year as well and as much as I refused to believe it (had been ttc for 5yrs beforehand) I still lost it the next week and had to have a D&C.  My hcg levels and then an ultrasound showed mine, I hope yours ends differently for you.

I had a blighted ovum. I read many reports of errors and I hope that is your circumstance. Right now, all you can do IS have hope. Waiting is not easy, so I wish you the best.
