The pill/spotting/period

So on Sunday I'll be starting my fourth pack of the pill. For this past week i been taking my period pills and getting my period but I also had some spotting two days before taking my period pills, is that normal? I know it's normal to have spotting when you're on your first pack but I'm not sure about the third pack. The peice of paper that I got my nurse says that 'you may have spotting at any time during the first three cycle of the pills'. Does 'cycle' mean pack or like the cycles within each packs? My pills is the one where it's 7 white pills, 7 light blue, and 7 dark blues, and then the period pills.
