so I wanna ask this kid to prom (he's a sophomore so he can't ask me) & it would be completely as friends but I found out one of my best friends likes him. should I not ask him?

I say if your nervous about it enough to seek advice on the subject, you obviously have some conflicting emotions about this. My opinion... Don't ask him. You're friendship is obviously important to you, and even if she doesn't mind she'll value the fact (if she finds out somehow) that you chose the friendship over hanging out with the guy she's crushing on at prom. +1000 awesome friend points to you for putting her first btw.

TBH you can ask her and she if says she's okay with it she may not be. And because she doesn't want to come off possessive over a guy she's not with/talking to, that may cause unwarranted tension between you and her because she can't illy admit she's not okay with you guys going together.

Its hard to say. Does your friend want to go with him? It would be nicer to set them up. But on the other hand its okay to ask him if you want to.

If I were you, I would talk to your friend about it. If she finds a date, I would ask her if she would be mad if you asked him to go with you since she already found somebody. If she doesn't find a date, I'd ask her if shed be cool with you inviting him to come along with you guys as friends and that way you could all hang out and nobody gets hurt. He's just your guys friends, if he happens to start crushing on one of you back, the other one is just going to have to be the bigger person and accept it. He's not something special or somebody you'll look back on and be like omg my future is ruined! This is highschool and there is a whole world full of boys just waiting to be noticed, just like you.
