What's the point of a break? If you want to be together you talk it through. Just like if you were married. Why take a break if your committed

Honey don't allow a break without it being a break up..these are childish and personally I feel give people the permission to come and go as they please in the relationship..so unhealthy. Just my opinion

I haven't done the "break" thing since high school. I feel like its a way to postpone a breakup. Adults discuss their issues and work through them, no break required.

I had my first boyfriend when I was 20 and I did need a break from him because he was the clinging type and I wanted to focus on school. Meaning,  we were exclusive to eachother but I needed my space to get my studies done. I can imagine someone who needs to reevaluate his/her relationship and need some alone time to do it could benefit from "a break". No, it doesn't mean cheat, some people are more introverted about and if that's how they arw able to handle it, let them.

Usually it means "I don't want to completely break things off with you in case I don't find a better replacement right away" or "I want to break up but I don't want to be a jerk and hurt you feelings so maybe a break will ease the transition for you". 
In my opinion it always means the relationship is not working and will likely never be fully functional
