It makes me so upset that you have to fit a weight bracket in order to be diagnosed with an eating disorder. Oh my god. This just hits too close to home. My ex girlfriend who is one of my best friends has been struggling with eating disorders for years. They never diagnosed her or treated her when she actually wanted to get help because she wasn't the correct weight and now that she is "sick enough" they want to treat her and she's refusing treatment and DYING because they waited too long to help her recover. It just kills me  I can't understand why they have to make you fit in a weight bracket in order to say your sick. It's just not right.

I'm sorry for the rant. I just needed to get it off my chest.

Someone very close to me has it. She flitted between BED and Anorexia for awhile. Its very real, very scary and just as hard to cope with as any other eating disorder. I love her to bits though and overcoming those makes her my biggest inspiration

I think binge eating is a symptom of an eating disorder, I don't think everyone can be categorize in neat categories like that.  Such as I restrict calories, but I'm still eating so I'm not anorexic, then I binge but don't purge so not bulimic, but I avoid eating, I'll throw lunches out and tell a loved one that I ate it so there's something not quite right, but my bmi is too high to get treatment, the calorie restrictions and working out too much puts me at risk of multiple health problems so what do you do?  Eating disorders are a mental health issue imo and a lot of people suffer from it, but because they don't fall in one of the easy to identify categories they don't seek treatment or they get turned away... which is bs.

Eating disorders are one of the most difficult and dangerous mental health problems out there, and usually start with some form of body dysmorphic disorder. I struggled with an eating disorder for a very long time, I still struggle with it actually, and I'm terrified that one day I'll lose control and get lost in counting calories and standing on scales again...

It truly is a very difficult ordeal for anyone going through it.

I binge eat usually the day before my period starts. After that I am normal eating again.
