Can birth control reduce your sex drive?

Question

A friend told me that while she was using birth control she did not feel like having sex and she had a hard time reaching orgasms. Have you experienced something similar?

I pretty much hated sex while on the pill. I mean, yay for another way to reduce baby making ha. Sex drive declined and enjoyment declined. But it was nice not to worry about getting pregnant when we did have sex. We just got married and started to use FAM with condoms all the time (you don't necessarily have to on infertile days and the Catholic Church frowns upon it, but whatever) and although my sex drive is back and I love having sex there is still the fear of getting pregnant. We waited to do this until we got married so if we did mess up, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Don't let the sex drive scare you from protecting yourself from an unplanned pregnancy though.

I tried 2 different birth controls (pills and Nuvaring) but they both killed my sex drive the same. Literally 0 sex drive. I could have gone months without it and been fine. So I quit birth control all together and went to only using condoms and now I can't get enough sex! It's been great and my husband is much happier and we are happier together and my mood has changed and now we are TTC!

I was in an unhealthy relationship for 7 years and lost my sex drive due to being unhappy, but thought it was due to the pill. Since getting out of that relationship, I have found that my happiness in life & love correlates to my sex drive. Being on the pill has not been a problem.

While I was on the depo shot, I didn't notice much of difference in my sex drive. I had a super high need while on trinessa and when they switched me to low estrogen birth control I could really haven't cared less for sex. It really affected me.
