How many years til popping the question is appropriate?

A burning convo that happens between my bf and I randomly that sometimes turns into an argument. Literally all of our couple friends are getting married this year and every time we get asked about "us" it gets awkward and one of us ends up choking or spitting our drinks out er something, he and I have both been married & divorced so we have different opinions AND I'm sure the fact that I'm a girl and he's a guy has something to do with it. ☺

Not sure, but me and my husband got engaged after 3 months together. I think sometimes people wait too long and then go past it.

That's different for us all. I've been married and divorced... with my ex, we dated 8 months before he proposed and we got married the following summer. Divorced three years later.

It's made me a lot less anxious to take the next step. I've been dating my bf now for two years and while I would love a ring, I can honestly say I'm afraid to go there. I -would- say yes, I -would- marry him, but I'd have a lot of worries just because of what I've already dealt with. And it's not fair because they are two different people, two different relationships but I can't help but have in the back of my mind, what if.

I'm sure with time, that nagging worry will fade and he gives me zero reason to question it.

My husband and I got engaged after 3 months of dating. About 9 months after we met. We have hard times, we didn't know every little detail about eachother before we got married, but we make it through every struggle we find ourselves in. There's no right answer. I am happy with our choices.

There should be an option. For less than 2 years! My (now) husband proposed after 7 months of dating and now we have been married almost a year (March 21!) I've never been happier :) it all depends on how you feel with the person you're with... He and I knew we would be married within a month of dating :)

I think it just depends on the couple. I'm not engaged but I just feel that that's how relationships work, different milestones take more time for some people compared to others. The most important thing is that you're comfortable and excited about it.

There is no set "right" answer to this question. It depends on the couple, their beliefs, feelings, etc. someone can propose to someone the day the my meet them and live happily ever after, whereas a couple who hails been together longer can get married after years and not last as long, vice-versa.

Depends on your Age I think. I didn't me my husband until I was 27, and had already had a very failed long ye relationship, which meant I very much knew what I did/didn't want In a life partner. I knew after six months that this was it, well it took him 2 1/2 years to ask. It was frutrating for sure, but he also saved up and got me a beautiful ring that he is proud of. I think when you are younger, you should wait longer to make sure that's really it. You've both been married, I'm sure you can confidently say you know whether it's a good fit or not pretty quickly!

My husband proposed on our one year anniversary, however he told me within maybe 4-5 months of dating that "he'd marry me in a heartbeak!" We were engaged for a year and have now been married for two.
