Advice?

Just had a cold chicken pasta salad bought for me, I ate the pasta and avoided the chicken. Are the risks of listeria still high? I ate it because I didn't want to be rude and now regretting it! :( I'm 11weeks

I'm sure the chicken was cooked before going on the salad. It isn't harmful to eat cold meat. It's the foods like cold cuts where, if it isn't handled properly during the cutting listeria may be a risk. If it was cold cuts in your pasta as opposed to chicken breast or whatever, chances of listeria is 1-2500. I've stopped worrying about cold lunch meat and just make sure I buy it from a place I trust.

Just had my first appointment yesterday. The good ol' doc told me lunch meats are fine as long as they're fresh. As for chicken, as long as it's fully cooked there's no risk just because it's cold.

Whatever was on the chicken would be throughout the whole salad, but I think your risks are low.
