Bleeding during/after sex first trimester

Anyone experience this? Apparently it's normal but it's still worrisome. Mine is a bright red that is almost a mucous consistency. It stopped but it comes back when I go to the bathroom and push. My on call physician told me it's nothing to worry about. But of course I still am!! I'm 6 weeks and had a normal ultrasound.
