Advice on genetic testing

My dr asked me if I wanted to do any genetic testing. I told her I didn't want the needle in the belly (amniocentesis) unless it was necessary. She said to let her know before 15 weeks if I changed my mind. And then we continued on other topics. What other kinds are there? Should I get them? Did you/ are you going to? What do they test for?
